Anyone else think Stan Lee killing off spider man sucks?

I grew up reading spider man comics, he is my favorite super hero since I think he can relate to normal people the most {my opinion}, but why are they killing him off? Plus why does have to be the Green Goblin, how about someone like venom or doc oc??
