How far away would you let your kid go for a sleepover?

I had my first sleepover at that age and it was three houses down and my mother went over, talked to the mom, and gave her the important numbers. Definitally talk to the parents. Also, even though I was 3 houses away I cried like a baby and almost went home at 2 in the morning cause I woke up scared and forgot where I was.
