How did the candian treaties preserve the culture of the first nations?

The canadians have treated us just as badly as the amerikans have. Both countries used genocidal policies in an attempt to eliminate our cultures, traditions and religions. Both natiions placed us in prisoner of war camps, killed our leaders, kidnapped our children and placed them in foster homes so they woudl forget their languages, traditions, and cultures, Yet, we are still here and here we shall remain.
